FAQ

How do I register my child for your summer/march break camp?

All registration details for Shaw’s Hoop Dreams Summer/March Break sessions can be found in our brochure. We will have two days available to you to register for you at your convenience at the camp location. If you have any further questions or are unable to register at one of these on-site registration dates please email us at shawshoopdreams@hotmail.com or give us a call 519-890-1008.

What is an individual workout?

We will focus on fundamentals and drills that will make your child a better individual player.

What are the ages of campers at Shaw’s Hoop Dreams Basketball camp?

The age of campers are males and females from 7 to 17.

Are your camps co-ed?

All Shaw’s Hoop Dreams Camp sessions are co-educational. We open our sessions to both boys and girls as our main focus is on individual skill building and basketball development, not just playing games.

What if I’m just a beginner?

Shaw’s Hoop Dream Basketball Camps are available to any athlete looking to elevate their game. Our staff is trained to accommodate every skill level and ability to ensure that everyone leaves camp with a sense of accomplishment.

How is Shaw’s Hoop Dreams different?

Shaw’s Hoop Dreams consistently offers superior training and first-class instruction for a fraction of the price of similar programs. We inspire a positive character in all of our young athletes, encouraging them not only to pursue their own dreams and ambitions but also to serve and give back to their communities. We strive to equip every participant with the power, confidence, and knowledge to make a lasting impact both on and off the court.

Is there a registration deadline?

Although there is no specific registration deadline for any of our camps, we encourage participants to register as soon as possible. Camps are limited to the first 60 applications (unless otherwise posted) — no exceptions.

What do I need to bring to camp?

Campers should come dressed in basketball attire (shorts, sneakers and t-shirt). They need not bring basketballs or other equipment as we will have everything they need. Please leave all watches, jewelry and electronics (i.e.: iPods and video games) at home as we cannot be responsible for such items. Campers may of course bring lunch/snacks as well as any medication they may need.

Are meals provided?

During full-day camps, each child will be responsible for bringing his or her own snacks and lunch.

Can parents stay and watch during their child’s program?

Of course! Parents and other relatives are more than welcome to watch their children in action from the sidelines and the stands. Feel free to snap a few photos and be sure to attend our awards ceremonies that take place at the end of each camp week!

How are the kids divided during camp?

Campers are placed in groups according to their age, skill level, and experience. This is done to ensure that each child plays alongside others of a similar ability. For beginners, emphasis is placed on improving at one’s own pace while enjoying the excitement of the sport, with a specific focus on the development of fundamentals. Our more advanced campers will be challenged by our expert coaches and will be equipped with the skills they’ll need to take their game to the next level.

Do you provide before and after care?

We do not, as the rental arrangements we have with the gyms we use require us to be in and out by a certain time. Therefore, we ask that parents and guardians please drop off and pick up their children within 15 minutes of the start and end of camp.

What kinds of programs do you offer?

Throughout the year, we proudly offer a variety of youth basketball programs that are available to players of all skill levels. These include camps, clinics, leagues, tournaments and individual or small group training. Whether you’re new to the game or a seasoned veteran, we surely have a program that will suit your basketball needs.

Where are the sessions located?

All of our sessions are in Windsor, we gladly offer programs all across the city, as it’s our goal to bring the excitement of the Shaw’s Hoop Dreams experience to kids all across the city. Locations are unique to each particular program and exact addresses are always listed on the individual program page.
